Again a name that we just love to see make his return on our field. He was among us at our very first edition, then again with The Fabulous Thunderbirds. He made his appearance with his own band here in 1999 as well. Jimmie is a super guitarist who masters roots-rock and blues to perfection and who showcased on his latest record a broad range of his favourite tunes. Carlos Santana, Bob Dylan and B.B. King at times called upon his string proficiency, something that makes you think, just admit it….
Jimmie plays already thirty-five years at the highest level, over twenty records bear his hallmark and he is the elder brother of the sadly missed SRV, whom he taught the first principles of the guitarist profession. Such a person deserves to be given a place in the limelight, same as you deserve to see him at work once again. Texas in all its musical formats, that is what Jimmie and his band offer you.

Talking happy returns! Dave Gonzales and his buddies were our guests for the first time exactly 25 years ago, and now that they are in the midst of their reunion tour in the US, it was pretty inevitable that we would fly over the band from San Diego to Peer once more. Not that we had to really beg: The Paladins were here in 1999 and in 2011 as well, meaning that they know the house. And the house knows them, and knows what they can do and what to expect: their own personal stew of blues, roots-rock, rockabilly, country and rock ‘n’ roll that granted the band the epithet “one of America’s hardest working live bands”.
They are at it for almost thirty years now, but there is no wear and tear visible: if you ask us, time did stand still for some years and do not mind that there were no new album releases. That will surely come, but not before we enjoyed, again, a fine hour of Paladins “for old times’ sake”.
